Victory to Change: A documentary about the intersection of journalism, social activism, and human rights in rural IndiaVictory to Change (2012, 30 min), by Gregory Walsh and Laurel Gwizdak, tells the story of two remarkable activists fighting for the most marginalized members of Indian society. In some of the poorest and most underdeveloped communities in India, activists Varsha Jawalkgekar and Mukesh Rajak work tirelessly for the rights of Dalits (members of the "untouchable" castes), women, and children, encouraging them to stand up against the injustices they have faced for centuries. Varsha and Mukesh are community organizers and citizen journalists, educating and motivating the people in the communities they serve while simultaneously working to expose corruption and injustice.

Through their leadership, communities that have historically acquiesced to discrimination and violence are learning to stand up and fight for their rights. This revolution is embodied in the slogan that Varsha uses to greet the people of the villages where she works: "Jai Parivartan!" - Victory to Change!

This 30 minute cut of Victory to Change is a prelude to a feature-length film about the work of Varsha and Mukesh that will resume shooting in March of 2013. Learn more about Victory to Change and the work of Varsha and Mukesh on the film's website: www.victorytochange.org
