College Band Concert

McDaniel College’s Department of Music presents the McDaniel College Band in Concert, Friday, May 10 at 7:00 p.m. in WMC Alumni Hall.  Dr. Linda Kirkpatrick directs the band, which features fifty students, faculty members, band alumni, and community musicians, and performs everything from classical to pops.  This concert will feature selections chosen by members of the band.

This year’s concert will feature Sousa’s “Stars and Stripes Forever March,” Bernstein’s “Divertimento,” Lauridsen’s “O Magnum Mysterium,” Bourgeois’ “Serenade,” Gillingham’s “Be Thou My Vision,” Pasek and Paul’s “Dear Evan Hansen,” and Zimmer’s “Pirates of the Caribbean, At World’s End,” arranged by Jay Bocook.

Kirkpatrick says the concert is “unique because the selections were chosen by the members of the band.  Titles were submitted and we put together a program!”  She also notes that, “The Bernstein ‘Divertimento’ features many soloists in the band.  This is our most challenging work.”

McDaniel students in the band this semester include Emily Barker, Rachel Behrmann-Fowler, Shannon Bernier, Ethan Brown, Kate Donia, Joseph Gillespie, Matthew Hopson, Kate Jacob, Su Ji Kim, Kyle McAllister, John McEachern, Erin Pogue, Laurel Pogue, Andrew Pyne, Mikaela Walton, and Jamie Wimmer.  Others in the band are McDaniel music faculty member Robert Sirois, McDaniel alumni Esther Jones, Greg Laslo, Natica Losee, Alan Lyons, Debbie Seidel, Jackie Sherwin, Jim Tarr, Betsy Turner, Erika Wunderlich-Hite, Allison Wyper Ashby, Carroll Community College students Emily Chaffer and Christine Gary, local high school students Chance Caprarola, Jason Cebulski, Margaret Frazier, Erin McGrath, J.P.
