McDaniel College’s Department of Music will present the McDaniel College Gospel Choir in concert Sunday, February 2 at 3:00 p.m. The concert, originally scheduled for December 8 and canceled due to inclement weather, will take place in WMC Alumni Hall.
Under the direction of Shelley Ensor, the McDaniel College Gospel Choir an eclectic mix of traditional, contemporary, and “out of the box” gospel music, featuring musical arrangements ranging from Kirk Franklin and Donnie Harper to Earth, Wind & Fire and John Lennon. Ensor promises “the concert will showcase the diversity of gospel music and it’s relevance in today’s music culture.”
The choir includes McDaniel students Stephanie Akoto, Elizabeth Bittings, Kimberly Bittings, Jennifer Bland, Erica Cichetti, Briana Fleming, Autumn Harrison, Patricia Hollinger, Precious Ibe, Chesney Jamieson, Jones, Lina Kasaltis, Natalie Kendall, Zoe Lewis, Joanne McKoy, Bri Molony, Rachel Morgan, Jasmine Nunez, Jada Pickens, Cindy Reid, Ben Reiff, Daniel Seibert, Ivory Smith, Katya Spitznagel, Elyssa Sykes-Bidwell, Justine Tinnin, Natarsha Towner, and Jessica West, as well as McDaniel music faculty members Margaret Boudreaux and Kay Betz. Other members of the choir are Renee Bauer-Wolf, Eileen Carson-Schatz, Akilah Halstead, Anna-Marie Halstead, Seth Johnson, Marsha Searle, Robert Strasser, and Brooke White. Accompanying the choir will be Shawn Dennison on bass, Alice Dorsey on piano, and Christopher James on guitar.
