McDaniel College's Department of Art and Art History presents a guest artist lecture by Robert R. Shane on Tuesday, October 22 at 6:00 p.m. in Peterson Hall Room 104. The lecture, which is sponsored by Ars Nova, the College’s art club, is free and open to the public.
Robert R. Shane received his Ph.D. in Art History and Criticism from Stony Brook University where he studied with critic Donald Kuspit. He is Associate Professor of Art History at the College of Saint Rose in Albany, New York, and former Managing Editor of the journal Art Criticism. His scholarly work has appeared in the journal Hypatia, his art reviews in The Brooklyn Rail, and he is a regular contributor to art books published by Phaidon Press, London. Dr. Shane's current book project in process is Mirroring Mothers: Witnessing Maternal Subjectivity in Contemporary Art.
