Dr. Barry McCarthy, a Psychology Professor from American University and the author of many books about sexual therapy, will give a lecture about healthy and dysfunctional sexuality.
Abstract: Healthy sexuality has an integral role in the couple relationship. It energizes the bond and reinforces feelings of desire and desirability. The paradox of dysfunctional, conflictual, and especially avoidant sexuality has an inordinantly powerful role, draining intimacy and threatening relational stability. We will explore the new sexual mantra of desire/pleasure/eroticism/satisfaction as well as the most common sexual problem of inhibited sexual desire.
