Masterworks Chorale of Carroll County, under the direction of Dr. Margaret Boudreaux and featuring organist Ted Dix, will present its winter concert on Sunday, November 18 at 3:00 p.m. The performance features the world premiere of “Te Deum,” composed by McDaniel College alumna Justine Koontz, commemorating the 100th anniversary of the armistice ending the first world war. The concert will take place in (Big) Baker Memorial Chapel at McDaniel College.
The Masterworks Chorale of Carroll County, known formerly as the Carroll County Choral Arts Society, was founded in 1977 under the direction of conductor David Kreider. Since its founding, the group has brought the community the works of Mozart, Brahms, Haydn, Handel, and Mendelssohn, as well as contemporary composers, and has performed in major venues throughout the Baltimore and Washington area, often in collaboration with other artistic groups such as the Columbia Symphony, the Frederick Regional Youth Orchestra, and the Children's Chorus of Carroll County. Together with members of the McDaniel College Choir, Masterworks Chorale was selected in July 2005 to participate as the Carroll Festival Chorus in Festival 500, “Sharing the Voices,” held in St. Johns, Newfoundland. More recently, Masterworks Chorale participated in the 2012 World Choir Games in Cincinnati.
