McDaniel College’s Department of Art and Art History presents “The Kathryn E. Wentz Juried Undergraduate Exhibition,” April 9 through April 19 in the Rice Gallery in Peterson Hall. The artists’ reception will be held from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. April 9.
The exhibition is open to all students, who may submit up to five artworks they have done while studying at McDaniel College. Professional artists and art educators have served as the exhibition’s jurors each year selecting winners for the eight awards that are given: Best in Show, First, Second, and Third place, three Honorable Mentions, and a Foundation Award that is open to work done in Drawing One (Perceptual Drawing and Design). Winners will be announced during the opening reception.
This year’s judge will be René Trevino, Artist and Exhibitions Coordinator at the School 33 Art Center in Baltimore. Treviño, an adjunct professor at Towson University, received his BFA in Fine Arts from the School of Visual Arts (SVA) in 2003 and his MFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) in 2005. He has shown at the Wadsworth Athenaeum in Hartford, CT, the Baltimore Museum of Art, Goliath Visual Space in Brooklyn, NY, White Box in New York, and the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, MA. His work has been seen and reviewed in Art Papers, New American Painters, Baltimore Sun, Baltimore City Paper, Washington Blade, Washington Post as well as several online publications.
