The McDaniel College Department of Music presents its Student Chamber Music Ensembles concert Thursday, April 24 at 7:00 p.m. in (Little) Baker Chapel.  The concert includes performances by the Flute Choir, Flute Quartet, and Woodwind Quintet, all under the direction of Dr. Linda Kirkpatrick.

McDaniel students involved include Olivia Brundage, Esther Jones, Victoria Mansfield, Laine Nightingale, Cara Sannemann, and Miranda Schmidt.  Joining them are community musicians Sean McGuire (CCC) and Scott Taylor (Winters Mill High School).

The program will include the Flute Quartet performing music by Frederick the Great and Anne McGinty; the Flute Choir playing “Celtic Celebration,” arranged by Ricky Lombardo and “Hill County Sketches” by Catherine McMichael; and the Woodwind Quintet performing Mozart’s Rondo for piano, oboe, clarinet, bassoon and french horn and “Umoja,” by Valerie Coleman.

A particular highlight of the evening will be the Flute Choir’s performance of “Pretty Maid,” composed by Mozart and arranged by Anthony McDonald. Victoria Mansfield will serve as guest conductor for this piece.
