The McDaniel College Department of Music presents its Student Chamber Music Ensembles concert Thursday, November 15 at 7:00 p.m. in (Little) Baker Chapel. The concert includes performances by the Flute Choir, Flute Quartet, and Woodwind Ensemble, all under the direction of Dr. Linda Kirkpatrick.
The Woodwind Ensemble, consisting of Kirsten Bickford on flute, Barbara Bowen on oboe, Olivia Brundage on bassoon and Allison Wyper on clarinet, will open the concert. Among the pieces they will perform are “The Entertainer,” written by Scott Joplin and arranged by Daniel Kelley, “La Fille aux Cheveux de Lin” written by Claude Debussy and also arranged by Kelley, and “Harmony Music One” by Edward Elgar.
Members of the Flute Quartet include Kirsten Bickford, Sarah Lange, Victoria Mansfield, and Emily Schaefer. They will perform four pieces, including J. S. Bach’s “Gavotte & Gigue,” arranged by Laura Walter Roth and Anne McGinty’s “Nuances.”
The twelve-member Flute Choir will conclude the evening with William Byrd’s “Earl of Oxford March” and movements from P. I. Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite. Students involved include Bethany Adamo, Kirsten Bickford, Barbara Bowen, Linda Caviglia, Linda Herrmann, Monika Lemke, Sarah Lange, Esther Jones, Veronica Lathroum, Bobbi Little, Victoria Mansfield, and Beth Ream.
