The McDaniel College Department of Music presents its Student Chamber Music Ensembles concert Thursday, November 14 at 7:00 p.m. in (Little) Baker Chapel. The concert includes performances by the Flute Choir, Flute Quartet, and Woodwind Quintet, all under the direction of Dr. Linda Kirkpatrick.
McDaniel students involved in the various ensembles include Ema Barnes, Olivia Brundage, Esther Jones, Victoria Mansfield, Laine Nightingale, Cara Sanneman, Miranda Schmidt, Brianna Towler, Sean McGuire, and Allison Wyper. The ensembles also feature many community musicians.
The Woodwind Quintet will open the program with Eric Ewazen’s “Roaring Fork” and a movement from Haydn’s “Trio No. 1.” The Flute Quartet will follow with Sarah Bassingthwaighte’s “Echoes of the Ancients,” Anne McGinty’s “Ambage,” and Catherine McMichael’s “Falconer.” Closing the program will be the Flute Choir, which will perform “Canyon Dreams,” and “Echoes in the Wind (A Native American Soliloquy), both by Phyllis Avidan Louke, and local composer Jonathan Cohen's “Free As A Child." Cohen, who plays contrabass flute, will perform with the Flute Choir on his piece.
