Siriki Diabate, who was a journalist before being forced to flee the Ivory Coast in 2005 after being threatened because of his reporting in opposition of the government, speaks about his experience immigrating to the United States. Diabate became a naturalized United States citizen in 2013 and earned both a bachelor’s degree in political science and international studies in 2014 and a master’s degree in business administration in 2016 from Shepherd University in W.Va.
