The McDaniel College Department of Music presents the spring concert by its Gospel Choir, Saturday, May 5 at 7:30 p.m. in WMC Alumni Hall. Under the direction of music lecturer Shelley Ensor, the Gospel Choir performs an evening of traditional and contemporary gospel music.
Ensor says, “The theme this year is ‘Welcome.’ With all of the divisiveness going on today, we want to spread the continuing message of love and inclusiveness.”
The gospel choir features McDaniel students Steve Alford, Sierra Brewer, Mable Buchanan, Colleen Clark, Savannah Dawson, Sarah Edmunds, Matthew Feller, Jedidiah Fowler, Garrett Gregoire, Deja Hudgins, Ceanna Hudicka, Arianna Jackson, Becca Macdonald, Lauryn McCray, Emily McQuarrie, Matthew Meagher, Irma Murhutta, Lindsay Russell, Matthew Scott, Lorell Watts, Akira Westbrooks and community members Kay Betz, Lenny Foust, Yvonne Hazen, and Katie Lautar. Accompanying them are McDaniel music faculty members Dr. Glenn Caldwell on saxophone and Jon Seligman on drums, as well as community musicians Alice Dorsey on piano, Christopher James on guitar, and Shawn Dennison on bass.
