The McDaniel College Department of Music presents the spring concert by its Gospel Choir, Saturday, May 11 at 2:00 p.m. in WMC Alumni Hall. Under the direction of music lecturer Shelley Ensor, the Gospel Choir performs an evening of traditional and contemporary gospel music.
Of this spring’s concert, Ensor says, “Our theme is based around acceptance. We are singing a couple of numbers that speak to how it is okay to be different (“This is Me” and “We Are the World”) and that our differences are what make us special.”
McDaniel students in the Gospel Choir are Tracey Ackah, Steve Alford, Princess Addo-Oboubi, Kay Betz, Julie Bittings, Colleen Clark, Jordan Davis, Jedidiah Fowler, Lenny Foust, Garrett Gregoire, Yvonne Hazen, Elizabeth Hobbs, Arianna Jackson, Rhema Jones, Alexis Knowles, Emily McQuarrie, Deante Myers, Irma Murhutta, Melissa Onate, Michael Osei, Isaac Ray, Matthew Scott, Ben Stapleton, Jake Stapleton, Desiray Sweeney, Mikaela Turek, Judith Verbist, Thea Westlake-Stearns, Jen Willard, T’ana Williams, and Jewoine Wilson, with McDaniel music department faculty member Glenn Caldwell on saxophone. Other musicians in the band include Alice Dorsey, piano, Chris James, guitar, and Shawn Dennison, bass guitar.
