The Westminster Symphony Orchestra will present its annual spring concert Saturday, May 4 at 3:00 p.m. at Carroll Community College’s Scott Center for the Fine and Performing Arts. The orchestra, composed of McDaniel College students as well as Carroll Community College students and community musicians, is under the direction of Dr. Linda Kirkpatrick.
The theme of this spring’s program is the many faces water and will include Holst’s Brook Green Suite, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6, movement No. 2 (Scene by the Brook), Smetana’s The Moldau, Zimmer’s “Pirates of the Caribbean,” and Vivaldi’s “Spring Concerto,” featuring violinist Nicholas Currie.
McDaniel College students performing are Nicholas Cummings, Alec Hedstrom, Clayton Herbst, Matt Hopson, Megan Mesick, Robin Minch, Jonathan Nepini, Erin Pogue, Laurel Pogue, Andrew Pyne, Brandon Schlichtig, and Eric Wright. Joining them are McDaniel alumni Allison Wyper Ashby, Natica Losee, and Betsy Turner, McDaniel music department faculty members Rachel Andrews, Nicholas Currie, Lynn Fleming, David Motter, Mindy Niles, Nick Reider, and Robert Sirois. Also performing are Carroll Community College students Grace Hartman and Ethan Warfield, local high school students Martina Adolfs, Chance Caprarola, Brenna Connell, Lance Davis, Kat DeGroff, Rory Dunn, Amy Engelkemier, Brandon Lauffer, Alayna Mahosky, Ethan Selby, and Abigail Wist, and community musicians Jeff Baker, Susan Cloud, Danielle Condon, Christina Cook, Gregory DeGroff, Kent Goble, Jennifer Hoff, Kathleen Jansen, Bobbi Little, Ron Maleson, Grace McNeal, Harry Meade, Kevin Solomowitz, Emily Wright, and Sarah Zimmermann.
