McDaniel College’s Department of Music will present The Westminster Symphony Orchestra in concert Saturday, December 9 at 3:00 p.m. The concert will take place in WMC Alumni Hall.
The orchestra is composed of McDaniel students as well as Carroll Community College students and community musicians. Dr. Linda Kirkpatrick directs the orchestra. According to Kirkpatrick, the theme of this year’s concert is, “Come to the Dance!”
The program will feature 9 Horas by Baruch Liftman, Slavonic Dances, Op. 46, Nos. 6, 7, and 8 by Antonín Dvorak, Concerto in D Major for Horn and Orchestra, KV 412 by W.A. Mozart, with soloist Lynne Griffith, and Suite No. 1 from the ballet “The Nutcracker” by Peter Ilich Tchaikovsky.
McDaniel College students in the orchestra include Rachel Behrmann-Fowler, Fabiola Castillo Medina, Matt Feller, Ryan Grant, Alec Hedstrom, Clayton Herbst, Matt Hopson, Drew Kenyon, Kyle McAllister, Castillo Medina, Rebecca Minch, Michael Nepini, Brandon Schlichtig, Max Seigel, and Eric Wright and community music program students Joey Andrews, Brandon Lauffer, Elena Rippeon, and Peter Stigdon. McDaniel music faculty members in the orchestra are Rachel Andrews, Nicholas Currie, Lynn Fleming, Lynne Griffith, Mindy Niles, Nick Reider, and Robert Sirois. Also in the orchestra are community musicians Barbara Bowen, Grace Boyd, Kathleen Bromelow, Christina Cook, Ashley Edwards, Eddie Hermoso, Jennifer Hoff, Mark Klein, Ron Maleson, Grace McNeal, Betsy Meade, Jenny Ribecca, Cindy Rosenberg, Janice Rusnak, Chuck Siegel, Carolyn Taylor, Frank Taylor, and Sarah Zimmerman.
