McDaniel College’s Department of Music will present The Westminster Symphony Orchestra in concert Saturday, December 7 at 3:00 p.m. The concert will take place in WMC Alumni Hall.
The orchestra is composed of McDaniel students as well as Carroll Community College students and community musicians. Dr. Linda Kirkpatrick directs the orchestra.
The concert will feature Haydn’s Symphony No. 104 "London" and Elgar’s “Serenade for Strings.” Another highlight will be Vivaldi's “Winter Concerto” with James Tung, violin soloist, and Ted Dix, harpsichord. “Vivaldi's ‘Winter Concerto’ is rarely played since the ‘Spring Concerto’ is his most popular of the ‘Four Seasons,’” says Kirkpatrick. We thought it appropriate to schedule for a winter concert.”
McDaniel students in the WSO are James Abdu., Alexander Edwards, Arielle Jochum, Esther Jones, Benjamin Kohn, Aaron Lutz, Victoria Mansfield, Roberto Molina, Marlee Nelson, Luis Ortiz, Emma Piper, Gilbert Ramirez, Maxwell Seigel, and Samantha Yates. Joining them are Carroll Community College students Meghan Bowersox, Jessica Detello, Sheyla Finkner, Mark Hare, Christian Hartman, Emily McCreary, Sean McGuire, Kaitlin Moore, Daniel Ostrow, Julian Schoming, and Scott Taylor.
The concert is free and open to the public. For more information, call 410-857-2599.
